opening files through an html5 embed (scratch, even too if you utilize it correctly) is definetely possible. take scratch as i mentioned as an example. in the HTMLifier converter there's an option that allows the user to upload a sprite to the project as-is or something. so perhaps using a formatted way you could allow users to upload mods temporarily to a scratch game as a sprite. think about it. you could make a full sprite that tells the game to set certain variables to such-and-such, and there's your entrypoint

I saw some games developed using GB Studio once on this site. I'd imagine it is okay, as long as you made it yourself.
